Reimagining the People’s House for the Digital Age

The White House Public Tour

History, meet the present…and future.

From signing the Emancipation Proclamation and FDR’s Fireside Chats to Andrew Jackson’s wild parties and presidential pets Bo and Barney, the White House is full of history, to say the least.

Yet despite its prestige, the White House tour experience has remained unchanged for decades. To make the unique history of the White House more accessible and understandable to all, ESI collaborated with Former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and A+E Global Media to create an inclusive, multisensory experience that honors presidential history and reflects the changing needs of "The People's House."

New multimedia experiences illuminate the stories of the White House, and those who have lived and worked inside. Throughout each space, digital and physical reader rails, signage and pillars guide visitors with immersive tactile and auditory elements to engage multiple senses, ages and abilities.

Together, we will work to open the doors of the White House wider and wider to more fully reflect the distinct beauty of all of our communities.
