A Headquarters Where Employees Are the Ultimate Fans

For over a century, baseball has been known as America’s pastime, inspiring generations of fans. But sometimes legacies feel stuck—more of a “foul ball” than a “home run.”
ESI worked with Studios Architecture to create a new headquarters for Major League Baseball that elevates the core elements of baseball’s past, present and future, and communicates the data-rich nature of the game.

A series of media interventions capture the excitement of the game for employees—the ultimate fans—and visitors. Seven real time and interactive media experiences showcase the sport’s greatest players and memorable highlights. Each floor is themed with a different gameplay element such as fielding, hitting or pitching, with environmental graphics and physical elements that tell the story of timeless franchises and legendary heroes.

During the season, a large-scale projection-mapped custom media display in the central three-story concourse features the latest game highlights, algorithmically wrapped in an animated frame. Custom data visualizations and slide shows of classic imagery and game footage intercut the highlights, keeping the media active during the off season.
Interactive kiosks keep spaces fresh and engaging for employees who may need a “Seventh Inning Stretch” throughout the day.

The fifth-floor concourse area hosts an interactive photobooth where users can imitate the game’s hottest stars, funniest moments and most exciting plays. The results are packaged for seamless social media posting and appear on displays throughout the office.
